Stained Glass Biscuits

INGREDIENTS
50g Soft light brown sugar
50g butter
1 small egg
130g plain flour
A teaspoon of mixed spice (or cinnamon)
1 bag of boiled sweets
Some Ribbon or coloured thread

METHOD
Mix butter and soft light brown sugar.
Beat one egg and add half of it to mixture.
Sift flour into a bowl and mix with a heaped teaspoon of mixed spice/cinnamon.
Mix all the dry ingredients into the butter mixture. Knead the mixture into a dough and roll it out on a clean, floury surface until it's half a centimetre thick.
Use pastry cutters or a blunt knife to cut out circles and then use your christmassy cutters to make shapes within the circle.
Use a spatula to lift your biscuit shapes onto a baking tray lined with grease proof paper.
Cut a hole at the top of your biscuit shapes - you can just use a straw.

For the stained glass - crush the boiled sweets (separate colours kept separately for best effect) and sprinkle them in the christmassy shaped holes.

Pop them in an oven - pre-heated to 180 degrees or gas mark four for 12 minutes or until they are light brown. Leave them to cool, then peel them off the grease proof paper and thread ribbon through the holes so you can hang them on your tree.
